They'll need at least 17 Trumpists to commit what their klan would consider treason in order for it to happen. If the vote is after Jan. 20, McConnell won't have the same imprimatur that he has enjoyed for these past several centuries. I really don't think Ted Cruz and Josh Hee-Hawley are going to capitulate. They're more likely to try to form their own hard-line klan that would displace McConnell when the Trumpists retake the Senate in 2022.

 

In my neighborhood, there are a bunch of Black Lives matter signs, as opposed to say, any black people living here (plenty of Asian and South Asians, though). The people on the street next to ours whose back yard abuts ours are blond (dad, Mom, two kids) and don't speak English amongst themselves. I know 'cause I've heard them when they are on family walks past our house. Their front yard is now festooned with Save Belarus signs. A worthy cause, and IMO a nice balance to our little part of the world.

I think they may have the votes. McConnell has done the math and determined Trumpism is dead. I suspect a lot of GOP Senators are doing the same thing, and they'd rather be on the side of their Minority Leader than the treasonous exiled ex-President.

They're not retaking the Senate with Trumpist bullshit. It cost them the Senate this time, and that was before the riot.
