As much as I despise Trump, this is just as futile a move as the last impeachment was. They still won't get 67 votes in the Senate to convict, for a meaningless trial whose purpose only will be the strip him of a pension, travel allowance and Secret Service protection. I fear all this will do is fire up his looney-bin base to pull some more shit in the future.
Once they cleared out the Capitol and certified Biden last week, they should ramped up the security -- as they have -- and laid low and not poked the beast.
