Everyone in my family for two generations worked at GM. The stories they’d tell about 1970s autoworkers. People being clocked in while not showing up. Half the workforce recently out of jail. Playing pranks on each other with parts on the moving line that then never got fixed. Employees smashing the windshields of non-GM cars in the parking lot.

It’s not hard to see why the Japanese destroyed them for 25 years.
