Yes, we haven't heard enough from Anthony Fauci in the last year.

Not sure that one will resonate.

It resonates. I wasn't aware the federal government had stopped doing so. I'm glad they're recommitting to reunification, and I hope they find the families.

Immigration has been badly mismanaged in America for years. I may not entirely agree with Biden's approach, but there will at least be a plan, I think, that can clear Congress, and we can be on our way.

For a long time, the policy was, "ain't nobody gonna do shit except let undocumented folks work for dirt cheap and live in virtual hiding." Now, hey, they'll be citizens, they can unionize, they can get real wages, and when companies seek offshore the jobs, maybe the reaction from the press and Congress will be different. And maybe, if companies still try to hire undocumented workers, there'll be a genuine resistance to it.

The dirty secret is, for a long time, few in power cared. As the world flattened out, the powerful stayed powerful, goods were cheap, maid help was cheap, and people at the top reaped the same benefits they always have, only a little more.

Legalize 8-10-12-14 million people - who all of the sudden become citizens - and it may change the conversation. I'm not hopeful it will, but I admit a cynicism toward the landed gentry class in America. I still suspect most of this - the last four years of fierce resistance to an admittedly awful man - is performance art for the sake of building up their moral portfolio, and when it comes right down to brass tacks, major companies and their leaders will remain as rapacious and disloyal as they have been, and Congress will have a "can't be helped, folks!" mindset about it.
