Your story makes sense. If they're going to offer more than the trade-in is worth - and not try to pad what they're getting for the vehicle you're purchasing - it's a strong move. Did that myself the last time I pulled the trigger. Clearly offered me more than I knew it was worth ... and on top of that, it probably needed four digits of parts and labor to sort it to my liking. Made it easier to do so, if anything.

Oh, I think a lot of people are served well by the upgrades. But people who are putting little money down and paying an extra year on a car loan for them? It astounds me.

They’re GREAT cars to buy used once they’re 10-12 years old, too. I drove a used Acura through high school. Amazingly durable and well-equipped compared to everybody else’s beaters.

Also, I’m cheap, so take my opinion for what it’s worth.

The Fox News story includes many of the questions Spicer was asked during his first press briefing. Perhaps Andrew Beatty doesn't remember them. Or perhaps Fox News is lying and made up the questions.

Granted, this is much older than what we're talking about here, but 20 years ago I restored a 1967 Land Rover Series IIa from the frame up. Series IIa parts were/are quite expensive. The four-cylinder engine had (I believe) a Solex carb, the same that the older VW Beetles used. So, I could pay $40 or whatever for a Solex carb from a VW shop, or I could pay $200 for a Land Rover carb. They were the same frickin' thing.

My neighbor's got a vintage green Land Rover with a ladder up the back and spare on the hood. Likely a Series II station wagon. Also, a stuffed tiger inside. It's cherry as much as it can be stored outside and he rarely drives it. The battery's always plugged in, though. He's also got a truck and sedan as his daily drives.

or maybe, one is referencing his first briefing was the first time he appeared in the White House press room and the other was referencing the second time he appeared in the briefing room.

And if you look at many of the questions posed to Spicer listed, you’d see they were about that first appearance

    but you already knew that
