He had a significant say in when it started. He proposed the Senate give Trump's legal team two weeks to prepare once the Senate receives the article. They get the articles on Monday, Jan. 25. Trial begins Monday, Feb. 8. Exactly two weeks later. He got exactly what he wanted, and bought more time for more details to be uncovered which can provide him with more justification for his vote to impeach.

If Schmidt is to become a new man of letters he ought to try a copy editor.

His raw copy is the 19-year-old intern you send out to the perimeter of the coverage area for the Class A playoff game.

Putin will be fine. He has no issue arresting thousands for "protesting without a permit" then disappearing them in prison.

"The people of Russia demonstrated again their intense commitment to democracy. Roughly 70 percent of eligible Russians voted."
--- President Clinton, congratulating Vladimir Putin on his March 2000 election victory.

They were democratic . . . until they stopped doing what we wanted.

    From the Salon story

Rather, Cotton attended the Ranger School, a two-month-long, small-unit tactical infantry course that literally anyone in the military is eligible attend. Soldiers who complete the course earn the right to wear the Ranger tab — a small arch that reads "Ranger" — but in the eyes of the military, that does not make them an actual Army Ranger.

In my book, Cotton fibbed in roughly the same way Olbermann did when he said he went to Cornell.

Unless one actually IS or WAS an Army Ranger (it's a sore subject there), there is no reason to give a shit about Cotton's former Army status.
