They're going to try to kick the can down the road again, but I think after Jan. 6 it's not going to work for them as reliably as it used to.

There is also some thinking that the trial delay helps the Democrats by allowing the media and authorities to report out of some of the events of Jan. 6 (such as the disclosure that the mob was interested in trapping members in safe areas below ground and gassing them, and threats against specific members such as Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez), which would both make a deeper case and weigh public opinion.

 

If he qualified out of Ranger School, which is tougher than some are making it out to be, and earned his Ranger tab, he's a Ranger as far as the Army culture is concerned. Whether or not he was a part of a Ranger unit is largely immaterial and a relatively minor ding which he should rightly be called out on.

 

Every day that the Senate trial is not held is a good day for the Dems. More comes out on the Capitol invasion every day, more toadies get arrested, and Moscow Mitch gets further emboldened to cut the string and encourage his caucus to follow suit.

In fact, this is a win-win for the Dems no matter what. Either be rid of Trump for good, or let him slide and split the GOP in half with his MAGA Party. The Whigs will nod their approval. (ADD: This is why I expect Mitch to come out for conviction.)
