Speaking of winter, it can go ahead and be over. It's been cold, wet, and dark for weeks now.
Winter should last from about Dec. 15 to Jan. 2. After that, bring on warm weather and sunshine.

Have I mentioned I hate winter?
We've been in this pattern for the last 20 years where it will be 20s-30s for days on end with no moisture, then the temperature will spike to 40-45 and rain for two or three days, making everything an overcast, muddy mess, just in time for it to turn off colder than a well digger's ass again.
The ground has been wet since the week before Christmas.
For stretches, I feel like Kid Rock... "I ain't seen the sun shine in three damn days."

Winter here has been 50s mostly with a few highs in the 60s. We had one day of snow flurries. Hardly any days where the wind howls out of the south, bringing mountain cedar that makes the 70s not worth it. If it stays like this until March, I can handle it.

Tomorrow we have a slight storm prediction forecast, which worries me a little. Last time we had a slight prediction right before Thanksgiving, an EF3 hit Arlington and I witnessed a mesocyclone from my front yard.

Been bone-dry here in the Rockies, not a good sign for another brutal wildfire season.

Might be dry on the slopes, but from what I've seen the snowcap is good.

Snowpack is down. We're at 73 percent of normal statewide.

Screw Mother Nature. I hate tornadoes, and today I really hate well-meaning idiots on Twitter. A bunch of dipshits who don't have to deal with them second guessing a poor family who had their house flattened because they saved the family but not the pets when awakened by an imminent tornado hit at 2 a.m.

Sounded like summer last night with all the thunder here. Feels like spring today. But it's an illusion, because it's just a wedge of warm air caught between two cold fronts, so it won't last. Back to January tomorrow.

Kind of bizarre to read of foot-high snowfalls in Iowa and Nebraska today. Here in northern Minnesota there is consistent snow cover but it's not deep (maybe 6-12" in yards), the only significant storm we've had was maybe 6-8" on Festivus, and we're overdue for the sort of "below zero for four days" kind of cold snap that this region is infamous for.

    Not that I'm complaining.

First snow of the year in Microville. Huge flakes and it's starting to stick.

Yesterday was like that for us. Got close to 70º after the storm cleared out, then a dry front passed through and it was back to 52º today, although full sun and no wind so you didn't think about it.
