I'm not defending her at all. It's a shitty thing she did - it's a combination of revenge porn and child porn. It's even worse that she did it to her own daughter. I was just trying to explain how the photo taken by the daughter might have wound up on Kellyanne's phone in the first place.

It's a Facebook/Instagram/selfie kinda world now, and that's the world the kids are growing up in. Lots of Netflix, which means lots of access to mature film. Even if you try to stop it, put blocks up on your subscription to try to control access, a kid who wants to watch something can just go over to a friend's house after school and see it. Nude to semi-nude selfies are a thing. Horny 15, 16, 17 year olds talk and text all the time. They happen and get shared - and sometimes shared again without permission, either to show off to friends or after a bad break up.

You can parent real hard, being conscientious, and still have it happen, even with good kids and parents.

I forbade my son to watch Freddie Krueger when he was 11 or 12. You guessed it, friend's house after school.

 

As the dad of a tween daughter, I've spent years asking parents of older girls their advice, what to watch for, how to deal with this or that. Every single one of them has warned me about the immense pressure teen girls get to send nudes to teen boys. And how if they send it one boy, he sends it to every boy in his contact list.

 

Tore up part of my car's suspension hitting a seam on that interstate a few years ago. Complained to Tenn. DOT. They said write a letter, send proof of damages and I may get reimbursed.

Eight weeks later, they reply. No reimbursement because I cannot prove negligence.

Being concerned isn't wrong and it's something parents should be having conversations with their kids to think through consequences of actions. But in this case, I'm not going to blame the daughter so much for having them as I am blaming her mom for possessing them to be "accidentally" released. Taking a photo of yourself? Not my cuppa tea, but then again, I wasn't a teenager with a camera phone. God only knows what I'd do if I were a teenager these days. She's being adventurous and taking photos of herself "looking cute" in various states, again just know consequences of sharing it or knowing that as a family member of a famous person who is hated, you might want to be on guard (goes for a dude taking dick picks as well).
