The most massive short squeeze I have ever seen.

Symptomatic of a bubbled up, insane environment due to the sea of liquidity the fed has thrown into the casino.

Unlike any squeeze I have ever seen, this one seems to have been engineered by teenagers and 20-somethings gambling with their stimulus checks (they call them 'stimmies'). There is a reddit group called /wallstreetbets. I don't trade stocks, but I do trade the futures indexes, and I check in on this group every morning to get a feel for what they are talking about. It's really informative. They have been talking about GME for a few months now, so I was not that surprised by this. EDIT: I should take that back, I was very surprised by just how much it ran up, it's insane, but not surprised that they were targeting it.

They are placing very leveraged bets with call options and have now washed out a lot of short interest. The short interest in this stock was about 140 percent of the float.

It's sad. I don't feel bad for the institutional money that is getting run over. What bothers me, though, is that there is a reason that the company is so heavily shorted -- the fundamentals of the company are abysmal and it is functionally bankrupt -- losing a lot of money, heavily in debt, only able to survive thanks to the Fed having destroyed the debt markets to make it so that nothing can fail.

The whole environment reminds me of the dot-com bubble. It's going to end eventually with a lot of people getting hurt, unfortunately.
