In the UK, Katie Hopkins is either revered or seen as a screeching howler monkey flinging manure. A perfect match for one of the GOP's dead-eyed, moonfaced fembots.

Congress can make changes to gun laws.

Photo ID is not inherently a limitation to voting. Neither is, you know, using ballots instead of a voice vote.

I understand the idea that there are a lot of people out there who don’t have photo IDs for whatever reason, and that group of people is, apparently, people would be more likely to vote for Democrats. but I think we’ve broadened definition of limitation and suppression so wide that it encompasses really anything at this point. And if you’re against anything, anything at all, you’re viewed as somebody who is suppressing the vote.

    Tell that to the GOP.

I’ll trade a second photo ID to vote absentee for stricter gun regulation right this second.

    The Democrats wouldn’t.

Do you hear a word about gun regulations right now?

    I don’t.

Antifa likes guns too. A lot.

People had to wait in long lines to vote early. Because millions were encouraged to and decided for the first time to vote early.

    Suppression!

The thing I think you’re overlooking is that the push for a second photo ID for absentee ballots is a direct response by the GOP to losing an election because Democrats availed themselves to a legal voting option more than their own people did. The GOP saw how many Democrats used that form of voting and are immediately trying to make that form of voting more difficult, despite no data showing a need to do it.

There’s simply no need to make the process any more bureaucratic or cumbersome when it is working just fine as it is. Adding the second photo ID requirement isn’t just meant to add another layer that might deter or turn away some Democratic voters. It is also intended to give Republicans another mechanism to challenge fair and legal election losses.

To pretend otherwise is disingenuous, at best.

The current system in Georgia worked just fine when the GOP was winning the state.

Lo and behold, in 2020 the same system - albeit expanded, because of the Covid - resulted in a Democratic sweep. With no problems, fraud, etc. More people than ever voted.

So, time to change the rules, because even though the current system worked perfectly, and actually was more convenient for voters, the wrong guys won. So we have to make it tougher to vote.

It's textbook voter suppression. To claim otherwise is head-up-your-ass ignorance.

Wait, they want a second (2nd) photo ID!?! That’s eliminating a majority of citizens.

The people who don’t have IDs are older, poorer people typically minorities who don’t have solid access to transportation to apply for IDs and sometimes don’t have access to vital records because they have been lost or weren’t available. It is one of those sneaky ways to sound like they are supporting voting integrity (which is just fine, btw. The failure rate of voting would leave many companies in shame) but just serves to disenfranchise voters. Then you get nonsense like gun licenses being accepted IDs. Who does that benefit? Two forms of ID is a joke and would be swiftly struck down if Roberts hadn’t killed the voting rights act.

it’s clear. More Blacks and Democrats voted by mail. That is unacceptable to the GOP. So instead of shifting policies to meet the needs of people who would actually split more Republican were it not for the overt racism, they try to get them to stop voting. Oh an never mind the fact had Republicans in Georgia actually trusted in the system and didn’t buy into the rigging bullshit, they might have won.
