F that ownership. And the Broncos, too.

It will be interesting to see how he does without playing 81 games at Coors. His home slash line (.322/.609/.985) dwarfs his road slash line (.263/.471/.793).

His glove, of course, plays well home and away.

I've mentioned this previously, but there is some history of those splits evening out a bit when hitters leave Coors Field. I've actually spoken with pitchers who said playing home games there got in their heads and they rebounded a bit once they left. I wonder if something similar happens to hitters, who then hit a little better at sea level once they leave the Rockies.

Matt Holliday never quite reached the home run numbers of his days in Colorado, but he excelled for the Cardinals. Andres Galarraga had a monster year for the Braves his first season after leaving the Rockies. I think Arenado's overall numbers will drop some, but they will be better than his previous numbers away from Coors.

Probably. He's unrestricted after this season and he's not going to re-sign after this shit show the last two years. Plus, the Monforts are salary dumping wherever they can.

When the news started spreading last night it was one of those moments where I just thought, sports suck. I don't even get that franchise and why I still like it.

Because, well, it's an incredible stadium. With an incredible in-game atmosphere (to say nothing of the views) that allow us to pooh-pooh what's happening on the field.

Ownership just doesn't care. At. All. It's all about the bottom line (see the right field party porch). They allegedly lost $90 million to $100 million last season. Probably true.

But call the bluff. Let him walk. Nolan isn't getting the money he turned down by opting out after this season. No chance in hell. But, hey, sunsets over the Rockies in July. Pretty.

It's the Wrigley of the Rockies, the best of the retro-generation stadiums (Caveat, I have not been to Pittsburgh, which is also supposed to be spectacular). Great sightlines, great neighborhood to pre/post game eat/party in.

I love Coors Field. Have been there many, many times; I used to make a special weekend trip from Oregon every year to stay with a friend and see a series. I hope to return again as soon as possible now that Micro Jr. is living in Denver. And living in Denver has rekindled his interest in baseball. He said last night his Arenado jersey will now be a classic!
