True. But none of them were getting paid and found out. Additionally, it sounds as if the Subhuman Pile of Crime didn't like their arguments and, as usual, he's listening to bad, bad advice.

Still, as already stated, he will not officially be removed because the Republicans have zero spine. And no leadership.

Well, he’s already been removed. At this point, I’m wondering if it might have been a better play to wait until he was a “private citizen” and file criminal charges. But yes, it is definitely frustrating to see the very real potential for nobody in the GOP to face accountability for Jan. 6.

The smartest move is to enter a demurrer and not participate in the impeachment.

My only hope is he will have the same problem when he is arrested for any number of crimes. And they jury won’t be a bunch of sycophants who will give him a celebratory blowjob for having his supporters try to kill them.

Is there anything on the books that says he cannot be tried criminally? Is that considered double jeopardy?

Trying to be neither humorous nor antagonistic ... is some clarification available?

Even if he can't be tried for this following an impeachment trial, there are so many other fronts on which the Subhuman Pile of Crime can be charged. And you know he knows it if he's lawyering up. The innocent aren't as blatant about circling the legal wagons.

If he hasn't been indicted by now, federal or state, he won't ever be. They had 4 years to pack away sealed indictments, and Mueller handed the feds at least 10 on a silver platter.

    Twitchy got away with it.

If so, we have failed as a country. And the number of followers who will try to do worse ASAP will quickly multiply.

I don't think any of us knows what is or is not afoot at main Justice. If they had indicted now, they'd get hit with claims that they're tainting the jury pool in the impeachment trial. (The pool is already tainted, of course.) But they can hold off for now, give him a false sense of security and then hit him with something at the appropriate time.

No. There were presidential impediments into getting documentation. Executing search warrants while he was president was problematic.

I dunno. He might get a wild hair to go up there and defend himself. He does that, anything is possible.

Him testifying (especially if Rudy is representing him) would be the biggest gift Democrats could get. We have short memories; people forget how insane things were during his administration already, and it hasn’t been two weeks. It’s been such a relief not witnessing another meltdown every day. His presence at the trial would remind everyone of how unlikable and how horrible he is.

Yes it would be a gift. I’m not averse to said gift.

The guy’s gotta go away from politics forever.
