David Whitley is back

... replacing Pat Dooley as the Gainesville Sun columnist. I think David is a bit below his skill set here but good to see him in print again.

Pat had been pondering for a while -- he's of a certain age -- so took the jump (with Robbie Andrieu) when Gannett offered a whole bunch of
buyouts a few months back.

 

David's stuff has always been great. Wrote some memorable columns way back when in Tampa.

During a slow summer period, Whitley heard, believe it or not, a bunch of Brits in Bunnell, FL (in a DMZ of sorts ... not Daytona, not Jacksonville, not Orlando, sort of close to all three) who cleared some land and were racing riding lawn mowers on the weekends.
