I did not investigate further, and nothing is mentioned about the sharing of playoff revenues in the original tweet.

Doesn't change my thinking that baseball players are the most entitled pro athletes in the country. And from what I have read, generally among the biggest assholes, too. Maybe it's because they have seven months of nonstop daily, nonstop exposure to the media, which the other pro sports do not.

As you said originally, it is unlike any other management proposal because it appears to be good. Gotta be suspect about anything they offer.

You mean there was more to this than simply “greedy player”?

Delaying the season a month is definitely a good idea. As is 154 games with full pay.

But yeah, based on the complete bullshit, no-faith negotiations MLB did last summer? I’m sure there are a lot of shitty to things in the proposal as well.

The upcoming season will be a lot like last season, at least to start with. No fans, Covid protocols, etc. But could be kinda normal in late summer and fall.

But based on the toxicity, no way 2022 doesn’t have a lockout or strike when the CBA expires.

Both sides did the right thing after 9/11 and kept labor peace. We’ll hopefully be coming out of another national tragedy next year. I have little faith MLB will do the right thing again.

I subscribe more to the theory that it's a bunch of mostly white guys who haven't been told to eat shit and like it during their entire development process, so, it's not surprising that they have the best / strongest union. And even taking all that into account, well, MLB owners are still mostly awful fucks, guys who decided Bud Selig should be in the Hall of Fame.

Why is delaying the season a good idea? Every other league is playing.

Better chance for even limited fan attendance the later they start would be my guess. Clubs need the revenue.

Other leagues are playing without fans.

Yes, and they're taking a huge financial hit. If you can wait a month and possibly play in front of a limited, paying audience while only pushing the playoffs back a little bit, why not take that chance?

Also, those leagues are playing their first full seasons without fans. Because of the timing, baseball is unique in that it is about to start its second full season under the virus. It has already taken a full season’s revenue hit.

Not buying this argument if I’m the MLBPA. NBA and NHL played a partial season without fans.

Open the books and show me the hit.
