Indeed it is. Yet, knowing Trump's modus operandi and obsession with conspiracies and keeping power, totally believable.

White House staff had spent weeks poring over the evidence underlying hundreds of affidavits and other claims of fraud promoted by Trump allies like Powell. The team had done the due diligence and knew the specific details of what was being alleged better than anybody. Time and time again, they found, Powell's allegations fell apart under basic scrutiny.

 

Troubling from a journalistic standpoint? Totally.

Does it line up with everything out there? Yes.

And that’s a problem. It’s so much on point that it could be total horseshit and the majority of people will accept it like gospel.

 

Just your everyday $100 million somewhere in the middle.

 

What if someone taped it?

 

So many long and seemingly direct quotes. Makes you wonder if someone recorded it all.

The allegations about manipulated voting machines were ridiculously false, he added; the lawyers propagating them, led by Mr. Giuliani, were “clowns.”

Pence and Barr, both far right theocrats, and McConnell, a power hungry amoral authoritarian, have at least, at some points, had moments of rationality and lucidity

 

Then that should be mentioned in the story — “... according to a transcript of a recording made during the meeting ...” or something to that effect. As written, it practically appears the reporter was in the room.

 

Or made it up entirely. No way to tell from reading the story.
