Anybody with older peeps, be persistent. We weren't annoying but we were keeping up with the VA and such. I have a sister who is uniquely good at dealing with bureaucracies.

I hope all in need gets theirs, soon.

 

I got an email last night around 9 saying I was OK'd to make an appointment to get a vaccine. I immediately went to the website and found an available appointment for today at 1:45 at Disneyland. I took it. The whole process took less than 45 minutes. Shot No. 1 is in, I'm scheduled for No. 2 on Feb. 24. I got the Pfizer vaccine.

 

My 90 year old mother got her first covid shot last Friday. The night before she had been sent for a chest x-ray due to labored breathing and it showed fluid in the lungs, so she was put on an antibiotic. This past Monday her breathing became very labored so she was sent to the hospital under the assumption that the antibiotic wasn't kicking in. It turns out she was having a heart attack. She ultimately tested negative for covid, but they consider this event her end-of-life scenario so she is now in the hospice wing. I'm here to tell you DNR orders and living wills and whatnot are one thing when they remain abstract and on paper. In practice, the reality is very difficult.

 

I am so very sorry. That has to be pure hell.

 

When they are put in front of you for you to sign, they are indeed. I've been there. I'm so sorry for your pain.
