So God took one of Adam's ribs and made Eve? Just one rib? That's it?

And you wonder why women have had short shrift since ... well, the start of time.

The Catholic Church shouldn't have taken the money, and, when our church was given the chance to do so, did not.

With the Catholic Church especially, it's tricky. We're talking about hospitals and schools and social services organizations that, if they don't exist, a lot of meals don't go out and transportation isn't made.

That said, the Catholic Church has the money to cover a lot of this, and should use it.

God bless Fr. Martin and his fellow Jesuits! That was a well-written piece.

Regarding the Catholic church and its priests making political statements and/or accepting PPP loans, both are wrong. It's especially irksome to me when conservative Catholics brag about how their schools and hospitals can be independent of "morally corrupt" principles that govern public schools and hospitals, yet are happy to accept government loans. You're either completely independent or you're not.

No more than 1,700 years. Basically, since the latter-stage Roman Empire co-opted it as a political tool.

    I stand corrected.

Though I believe Paul subverted the teachings of Jesus to expand his power base and thus began the beginnings of antiSemitism

St. Paul disliked women more than Jews. At least at one time he was a Jew.

One of the things the show did well was visuals to drive home a point.

Ash Wednesday services tonight - instead of the cross on the forehead they went old school and sprinkled them on our heads due to COVID-19. Kind of struck me how close Lent resembles a fighter preparing for a title bout. About the same amount of time as well. The Rocky IV training montage came to mind during the homily.

It is interesting to note that for someone so pivotal in the New Testament Mary is only quoted four times. Then again, the Magi had no previous relationship with Mary and found their way to Bethlehem. John the Baptist met up with Jesus and I don't think he and Mary ever met. Good thing Maury wasn't around back in the day.
