Plus, let's not pretend The Athletic is the last stop for anyone. If you've been in the business long enough, it's one that involves a lot of job-hopping, even just a move from the Podunk Gazette to the Shelbyville Times.

She went home and, apparently, wanted to go home. Big difference.

If that's considered wrong, I don't ever want to be right.

I am not an Athletic apologist, but it’s a good sign that a news outlet as big as the Trib is hiring someone from The Athletic.

Print is toast whether The Athletic succeeds or not.

Putting everything else aside, Chad, you really are an asshole. Some people here still work at print newspapers. I'm sure they love your posts.

I'm one of them. That's how I know the days of print are numbered.

So this is some weird fetish for you then?

Wasn't it a few years ago someone covering the A's for The Athletic left to join the Red Sox team at the Boston Globe? So hardly unprecedented.

No, I come here for good sports journalism discussion. And there is a lot of good sports journalism discussion. But there's also a lot of over-the-hill journalists completely out of touch with the reality of the business.

No one is out of touch with the reality of the business. Do you think there's a single newspaper vet here who isn't acutely aware of the issues the industry faces?

The thing is, this was common knowledge 10 years ago. You coming around and shaking your dick about it now is not only a decade late, it's incredibly redundant. That's why you're an asshole.

Yeah, you’re acting like you’ve split the atom with these scorching takes on print. You have not provided any information everyone here doesn’t already know.
