I'd say they are both equally stupid. Not everyone can be the Yankees or the Red Sox, but there should be a minimum amount of money you have to spend on payroll, at least $70-80 million, to prove you are at least trying to win.

Sometimes all the floor does is over pay average players because those teams still can’t pay 25% of their payroll to 1 guy.

Then you need revenue sharing and linkage.

Revenue sharing is already happening. Including the Cardinals, for some fucking reason.

What baseball needs is a salary floor. That the owners were able to implement a soft cap with no floor shows just how ineffective the MLBPA is these days.

Rangers aren’t even pretending to compete this year. Elvis Andrus is shipped to the A’s for basically the expiring contract of Khris Davis.

Especially when that guy has a career WAR on par with Masahiro Tanaka, who compiled that WAR in two fewer MLB seasons and couldn’t find an MLB job.

Yes, Bauer is technically a Cy Young winner. So if he gets to say he’s a full Cy Young winner, then It’s also fair to say he had the worst CY winning season in the history of the award. Worst Cy Young winner.

    Because of Wins?

Neither are the A's, who probably wouldn't have resigned Davis anyway. Being an Oakland fan has got to be like watching someone sell off a car by parts.

Agreed. In fact, I've been saying MLB needs a salary floor more than it needs a cap for years. Tax fuck out of any team that drops below the floor, too. Put some real teeth into it.
