New Fantasy Baseball League

Adapting the draft order once we have cuts is also going to take some time. Does anybody have a problem with doing cuts in a couple of weeks? Say Feb. 18?

It looks like we will go with that Sunday (March 21) or a weekday. I could do a Thursday, but I wouldn't want to start any later than 8 p.m.

 

Looks like we are replacing two owners. I've got one replacement lined up and I'm waiting to hear confirmation on another. I did post in the general fantasy baseball thread, but if the second guy falls through, I may need help finding one more.

 

Can we decide on how many teams before we make keeper decisions?

 

Yes. We will have that settled before cuts are due. I'm 99 percent sure we are going to be able to stay at 12. I've got a replacement for Justin. We just need someone to take over for the owner of Grand Theft Votto, who never responded.

I think we should stay at 12 if possible. We drafted and planned on keepers with that number of owners in mind.

 

Looks like we will be 12. I just sent emails transferring the two available teams to new owners.

 

Confirmed. We have two new owners with new team names to come. We remain at 12 owners. By the way, I will be communicating more on the league website because neither of them is a member of SJ.com.

So, I hope you all don't mind, but I'm picking two key dates based on feedback from here and from our two new guys. Many of you stated a preference for a night during the week, so I'm thinking Thursday, March 18 at 8 p.m. I still need to check that one with one of our new owners, but I will see him today.

For cutting down to six keepers, let's go ahead with Feb. 18 at 11 p.m. Eastern as our deadline. That gives the new guys a week to check out their rosters and choose their six keepers and gives me time to figure out how to fix the draft order and set it.

I'm still tinkering with settings, so for now, please just email me your list through the league website. You may send it just to me or to the entire league. You can also post them to the league message board if you like. If you want to send it early, you may revise your list right up to the deadline. I will compile the full list and share it here and on the league website. Please include the round of draft pick the player costs you. I will be checking, but it would help me out if you all put them on there and if you all used the same format. Remember, the player costs two rounds higher than when they were drafted. Players who went undrafted cost you a 23rd-round pick. If you have two guys who cost the same round, the second one costs you one round higher.

For example, if I kept Cavan Biggio, who I took in the 15th round, undrafted Clint Frazier, and undrafted Austin Nola, it would look like this:

Renado Nunez (23)

I hope all this works for everyone, so we can move forward with the fun stuff. If anybody has suggestions on how to do any of it better or problems you would like me to address, please let me know. I'm still new to running a league, so I'm happy to have any feedback.

 

I set the cut date and draft date on the league site. It looks like you can choose your keepers on the site, so you may do that as well by Feb. 18, but please send the email or post it on the league message board, too. That way we are all clear on the round each kept player costs. Thank you to We are Family for posting so quickly and following the format I requested.

 

I was expecting to screw it up, which is why I was so early.

 

I get that. My money league commissioner encourages people to turn lists in early, but allows revisions right up to the deadline. I'm just copying what he does.
