I'm a few days late, but did anyone think that the gushing over spieth this weekend was a bit much?

It wasn't Jack on Sunday at Augusta in '86, for cripe's sake.

Hannah's going to wonder what Hicks got all over his suit. "Honey.....did a jar of mayo explode on your jacket?"
    Nauseating.

There's something about Spieth that moves the needle emotionally that hardly anyone on Tour now has. I thankfully didn't have the sound on this weekend when watching but I know golf Twitter was all aflutter with Speith being in the hunt. Xander Schauffele doesn't do that for anyone.

You want to take a good nap, follow the glacial threeball of Spieth, Schauffele and Cantlay.
All the fun and personality of a vasectomy.

I forgot Spieth was slow. The other two are brutal to watch, especially Cantlay.

Yeah, I get that Schauffele doesn't move the needle. To me, Spieth doesn't either, certainly not the way the announcers were going Sat afternoon.

Maybe because Spieth was once the best young player on the planet and Schauffele wasn't? Because he has three more major victories than Schauffele? Because he had a season with two wins, a second and a fourth in the majors? And because Spieth suddenly and inexplicably fell off a cliff into David Duval territory and hasn't been a contender for at least a couple years now?

Nah. I can't figure out why Spieth making a run moves the needle more than Xander Schauffele.

Seeing how phenomenal Spieth was, 2nd, win, then brutal 2nd 2014-2016 at the Masters, Masters and US Open in 2015, then the Open in 2017, then zilch, all before what 26? That set him far apart from the young "maybe superstars", Thomas/Fowler/Day/DJ (until he got his 2nd). Only one close was Rory and Rory hasn't won a major since 2014. That's why I was wrapped up in Spieth, he may be slow, but he was about alone at the top at such a young age and then splat, unbelievably had no confidence over 4 ftrs. That he was finally in contention was compelling to me (now I only watch DVR recording and in spots.)
