Donald is a DT, and Watt is a 3-4 OLB, which has a lot of similarities to a DE.

Jerome Solomon had quite the tear down column on the Texans' huckster-turned-EVP

Solomon: Jack Easterby isn't the worst but give him time

The primary difference being an outside linebacker drops into coverage a lot more.

Yup, my bad. In fairness, the point stands. Every one of those stats except favors a 3-4 OLB over a DT.

I can see the Eagles trying to "bid up" the price of getting Wentz to a point where another team trying to move a QB would say - "Shoot, you can have our (better) QB for that."
I do find the talk of Wilson being upset in Seattle funny. When these QBs start taking less and giving teams more room under the cap to - say bring in some decent O linemen - then I'll start taking them seriously.
I figured the Eagles committed to Wentz when they canned Pederson and hired a Reich assistant. Don't know how you can put a "for sale" sign on him and expect him to be your starter now. Best thing they can hope for now is getting rid of his contract.

The Seahawks have failed to draft/sign competent offensive linemen going back to when Wilson was under his rookie deal. If they can afford Jamal Adams, it ain't Wilson's contract that''s preventing that. They're just not good at it.

I would hope, at some point, professionalism on both sides would kick in.
The Eagles say fine, we'll shop you around, but be patient and work with us, and until then you're our starting quarterback and oh by the way you're getting paid something like $32 million to do this job so you'd better do it as well as you can.
And Wentz has some pride and says, hey, I'm one of a handful of people getting paid $30 million plus to play football this season and that's a pretty sweet deal at the end of the day. Plus my future opportunities to earn another $30 million next season and beyond hinge on how well I play, so I might as do this job as well as I can.
Probably just a ridiculous fantasy, though.

Do you really think a team hands the keys to Hurts as the clear no. 1? I know he’s praised as an excellent leader and competitor, but I don’t see that he has an NFL arm.

He’s done enough to earn another season.

Six TDs, four picks and a 52 completion percentage. Yeah, Philly is gonna LOVE Hurts for an entire season.

Is Easterby now the most senior person in the Texans front office? After just two years? Dude is a virus.

The more I think about it though - I can imagine Cal McNair wants this team to be HIS team and not have a bunch of people telling him what his dad would have done, or what he had done in the past. Using someone like Easterby to be the scapegoat/deflect blame is actually not that dumb.

Only if you go in under the assumption that they're not going to be any good and he can carry you to a 3-13 season while you figure out the QB position going forward.
