Wasn't aware this had been going on. She deserves to be cut from the cast, but it's disappointing. I thought she was good in that role.

    But she pwned the libs.

Agreed. I agree with the decision to cut ties with her, but I'm disappointed that we have probably seen the last of the character. I'm assuming they won't recast her.

Come on, it was not that interesting of, or pivotal of a character. And there are a lot of women who can play that role.

I wonder where the whole series will go. Baby Yoda was the McGuffin.
It shouldn't be real hard to recast MMA Chick.

I agree that there are many women who could play the role, but I don't think Disney is going to want to recast. They can just create a new character to take her place if they need someone in a similar role.

Of course, there is some history of Disney doing it in the MCU, specifically recasting Jim Rhodes and Bruce Banner, but those were at the very beginning of the MCU.

Maybe they will come up with an even better character. It worked for Star Trek: Deep Space 9. The original plan was to have Michelle Forbes reprise her role as Ro Laren as one of the leads on the series, but she refused the role. That led to the creation of Kira Nerys.

Seems kind of silly to recast the role. Why bother? We barely know anything about the character, and there aren’t really any loose ends that absolutely must be tied up.

Disney making a mistake allowing this to play out this long. “Gina Carano is no longer employed by the Walt Disney Co. and her character will not be recast.” Boom. Done. Conversation is over in less than 24 hours.

Agreed, but I'm not sure how much they care. If they want to keep the door open on recasting, I doubt they are going to worry about the speculation.

But why keep the door open on recasting? What’s the point? Are there any questions we have as viewers about Cara Dune that are so pressing that we need to see her onscreen ever again? Is it worth keeping this in the news?

I'm not saying I agree. I was the one posting earlier in the thread that they didn't need to recast the role. I'm just trying to understand the Disney logic. Of course, I mean modern Disney logic, not back in the day when they weren't fond of folks like me. :)
