For my district, they schedule 186 or 187 days and have to be in session for 180 days, with the additional days counting as snow days. If less days are used, then additional days off are added for either Spring Break (in April) or Memorial Day weekend. If too many days are used, then Spring Break gets shortened.

It is quite the center of the Redneck Universe on race weekends. Anywhere that has a sign as you come through the infield tunnel prohibiting the shooting of firearms after 11 p.m. tells you all you need to know about the place. I've been told navigating the infield restroom showers is a particularly unique experience.

If the weather doesn't require us to use the built in snow days, it's just "Thanks for the free work."
If it's bad enough that we go over, they start cutting into days like Good Friday and spring break.

A local charity has rescheduled a polar plunge set for this Saturday because it's going to be too cold. That's some Southernness right there.

Local forecast now going for 5 straight days of snow Sunday thru Thursday of next week. We won't see a day above freezing starting Friday night and ending Thursday afternoon.

At least right now they think it'll be proper snow and not that ice bullshit. Up to 6" forecast.

    I'm telling you.
Ice is nothing to screw around with.
"Oh, but I have 4 wheel drive, so I'll be fine."
    SLAP
4 wheel drive does you absolutely no good on ice, you buffoon.
The fact that there doesn't appear to be a drop of salt or sand on the roads should lead to some interesting conversations......

NWS is predicting 12-inches of snow for here over the next week. Please send dog mushing tips. Or cross country skis.

Just saw my first freaking hummingbird. I just moved to the myrtle beach area this fall and it's crazy weird weather.

Not bragging about the bird, I miss the snow. But am so thrilled to see this little guy already

We got below zero this morning. In fact, it's only 3 right now with light snow. Lots of snow in the high country.

And I will echo Chef. Ice is the absolute worst.

The low Monday night here is forecast (forecasted?) to be 1 below. We -- nobody around here -- are not prepared for that kind of cold.
