I told a buddy on Saturday night that I haven't seen a broadcast so starry-eyed for a player not named Tiger in a long time.

Sunday felt so predictable though. No one makes all those putts two days in a row.

In 2014-2017 it seemed Spieth did.

He won't win until he figures out his tee shot. He's all over the map with those. He was said to have "queefed a hybrid" off the first tee Sunday on the NLU podcast this week and I about fell out of my chair.

No amateurs at Pebble this week. There is a god. And not all with covid is negative.

But what about Bill Murray’s adorable and utterly unforced shenanigans?

Some 19-year old kid who looks like he was cast as the nerd in Porky's 12 went out and shot a 64 today. Even if he shots 82 tomorrow, I'm damn impressed.

Akshay Bhatia. He's a stud. Decided not to go to college and turn pro immediately. Played in a qualifier for the U.S. Am we hosted in Newport News when he was 16 and medaled in a 36-hole qualifier with at least one 64. Don't think he'll win this week but he's going to be a factor soon as long as he gets playing opportunities.

    The 64 was damn impressive.
The fact that he hit 18-18 greens is very damn impressive.

Nantz is in love with Spieth. When Spieth won the Masters they probably had to clean the jizz out of the Butler Cabin.

Spieth with a nice 67 at Spyglass today with a bogey on 1 (I played there just before New Year, #1 is a gettable Par 5). Am I doing a Nantz? No but I'm rooting for him.

BTW, Ricky Fowler is 32 now and he's fading fast into oblivion. Not Duval or Baker-Finch territory but more like middling range, making cuts and a living but not threatening. The Luke Donald of now.

Was just thinking along those same lines yesterday. The kids who used to wear matching Rickie Fowler outfits are probably old enough to have drivers' licenseses.

And they showed Tim Allen as Santa Claus today on the broadcast ... oh, wait, that was freaking JOHN DALY in some sort of red sweatpants.
