Senator Good Girl and Lamar the Lich were probably first in line for their shots. I can't hate my state, but have a hard time not being angry at the people who run it.

Oh, Cosmo. I'm so sorry. Folks discovered the company I work for has a mental health team. When people are subscribing to an educational/entertainment service* so they can talk to the counselors on staff, you know the world has tipped right over. You're not alone in feeling this way.

In the year after my father died, when I wasn't trying to work full time, help my mother, and go to graduate school, I played a lot of Myst. It helped.

Same here. Having a family member here to help and protect has probably stopped me from licking doorknobs at Publix.

*Sorry. No porn, but I can teach you basic chemistry, physics, and genetics as well as give headpats. My caseload is very interesting. FWIW, I have friends who used to run a literary erotic zine. They nagged me to write something for them. I did. It was similar to the time my priest wanted to do a sung Eucharist. I took him to the backroom and sang a verse of Simple Gifts. He never asked me again. I think everyone in the vestry was tone-deaf except Father P., who had a lovely tenor voice. So my editor friends responded to my submission with a request to write something that wasn't funny. I didn't have the heart to disabuse them of their impression of my mad erotic skills.

That game freaked me out. My friends all found it relaxing. Being all alone on that map with that spooky music made my anxiety spike. (But it doesn’t take much for my anxiety to spike. My fight or flight response is permanently set to rabbit at a dog track.)

Yikes! I'm sorry to read that. One of the Miller Brothers (the guys who created it) was an anth major at UT-Austin. The game was making the rounds in that community when it first came out. I was working in clinic. It was a quiet place to go. My nephew's Richard Scarry games, on the other hand...

There was a parody version, Pyst, with John Goodman. It was funny for fans, dunno about everyone else.

I find all video games except for simulation games stressful. The Atari 7800 game Choplifter has forever scarred me.

I used to make fun of the 50 Shades author, but them as a lark tried to write something erotic.

    It’s fucking hard.

    Pun intended.

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
    When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we will not be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.

    Oh. You meant...?

I always found recorded music at funerals to be a little strange. But I’m probably going to have the Alison Krauss version of Simple Gifts at mine, because I don’t know anybody in real life that can hit the notes like that.

Colorado. Sorry for the confusion. Cali has been a joke from what I can see. My sister and I were about to tell my parents to drive here and get their shots.

There's a reason the Coen Bros chose her to be the voice of the sirens in O Brother.

Have you seen this series from Yo-Yo Ma?
