    It says he wants out.

End of an era: Houston Texans release 3-time DPOY J.J. Watt

I've heard that speculation for a while. I doubt they can offer much, so he's going to have to take less money if he wants to do that.

JJ probably gets as much endorsement income as any non-quarterback, and I've read that various teevee platforms are just itching to turn him into a Siragusa/Karras type jolly big guy analyst after his playing career, so he could probably take a bite on a contract for a couple years to join a marquee winning team.

Plus while maybe he's not quite the kind of wrecking machine he was a few years ago, he's still got gas in the tank.

Any team could use him, but unless we know how much money Watt wants there's no way of telling which teams will pursue him. The Patriots front seven was quite poor last season, but they're not really in position to pay him top dollar due to their many other needs.

    Both of them, apparently.

Yes, obviously what he wants in terms of a contract will play into every team's level of interest.

Cal McNair wants his own team and for any eventual success to solely give credit to him and not the foundation built by his dad. So out goes everyone who came on board during his dad's era and in come people who will owe their paychecks to the son.
I mean we've all seen this before right? Good managers do a great job and get promoted and the next person realizes they need to "show value" to the person who hired them so they destroy the good operation that was left behind, encouraging staffers to leave and go elsewhere so they can hire "their own" people who are loyal to them and don't know "the way we used to do things."
They probably teach the method at MBA schools.

I don't think so. His peak didn't last long enough. I think there are only eight or nine Hall of Famers who played primarily at center. He certainly wasn't on a level with guys like Webster and Dawson.

Wait - The Houston Texans were a "good operation"?
A semi-regular appearance as the shitty wild card team in the shitty playoff time slot?

We must not watch the same league.
