More evidence that the people who run baseball hate it and want to kill it.

So there is no more PCL? California League? Texas League? That's just dumb. Those leagues had history. Shoot, how will kids even know what a "Texas Leaguer" is anymore?

No one is going to pay to see wood bat college league baseball in Lowell, Mass., when they can see the best college players 90 minutes away, for free, on the Cape.

I think those are just placeholder names. The question is if they'll use traditional names like "Pacific Coast League" or come up with ones like "Triple-A West brought to you by McDonald's."

I would hope they come up with better league names. Winning the East Division of Triple A West just sounds oxymoronic on top of being moronic.

Sure sounds to me like we're quickly heading toward the NASCARification of minor league baseball. The AAA Wells Fargo League, AA Chik-fil-A League and A Publix League announcements are probably just a matter of days away now.

The PCL and IL had been in operation for 100 years. Most of the lower-level leagues too.
MLB just wants to control it all.

Or being The Double-A South South champs.
Speaking of which, it looks like the Southern League survived the realignment pretty much intact. The Jackson Generals (in Tennessee, not to be confused with the old Jackson Generals that played in Mississippi) folded, and Jacksonville got bumped up to Triple-A, but the other eight teams are still together in Double-A South — which has South and North divisions.

Yeah if they do an unbalanced schedule, that’s going to get real old real fast. Even the people there for fireworks and 2-for-1 drafts are going to notice when it’s the same three teams over and over.

Tony Two Times must have thought of some of these league names.

    UGH.

Apparently many of the social media people who were handling minor league team accounts have been fired. I don't have specifics but am seeing several people on Twitter saying they were terminated. Geez, those folks were some of the brightest, funniest people to follow.

Baseball couldn't be more inconsequential if it tried.
