lol there was a chainsaw somewhere near the course today, and on a couple of holes it was just droning away.

I watched a little of today’s round. He’s playing really well, though he did miss a short birdie putt on 9 (his last hole) that would have given him a two-shot lead. Given where he’s been the past 2-3 years, I couldn’t help thinking I hope that doesn’t shake his confidence enough to derail him tomorrow.

Has been solid five of the past six rounds. Overdue to close one out (been 3 1/2 years). First 36-hold lead since 2017 at Birkdale. No amateurs to screw around with, especially, on Saturday should help.

On the other hand, today is supposed to be classic "Crosby weather:" cool, gusty and rainy. It's the kind of day where all you're trying to do is keep from putting up a big number somewhere. Let's hope Spieth leaves the two-way miss in the clubhouse today or it could get scrambly.

At least Gwen is excited to find out when the tournament starts. She's been frustrated for the past three years because Spieth has been so mediocre.

The best Pebble defense are the small severe greens. The vistas along 7-10 and 17 ,18 remain the best.

Unless you are part of the Spieth slurpfest, this leaderboard is as exciting as one for the Quad Cities Open.

Please. It's the "John Deere Classic" (which Spieth has won). ;)

On the plus side, Jim Nantz has never set foot in Silvis, Ill.

Berger taking 5 minutes to skirt the spirit of the rule regarding the caddie lining up his putt is scintillating.

It’s good I’ve got a DVR because I can’t watch him live. Brutal.

So I’m starting the return leg of an 8 hour roundtrip and once again I am reminded of how high quality, informative and entertaining the PGA radio broadcast is. Makes me look forward to the next many miles.

Is it Faldo or Baker-Finch who's impossibly charming?

No love for Nate Lashley, the winner of the inaugural Rocket Mortgage Classic?
