Another thought: If McConnell is smarter than all of us, is there a chance he isn't concerned over this longshot impeachment when Trump could be tried and convicted on various felony charges and thus not be allowed to hold office or even vote?

Actually, he missed a couple of days consecutively last week. I saw some concerned tweets from idiots.

 

Trump wasn't acquitted. A jury that favored convicting him was hung.

 

Hasn't been on since Groundhog Day.

 

This is utterly unsurprising to anyone who has lived in Louisiana. I know this from my brief period of time living there, most of which was spent anxiously awaiting the opportunity to live anywhere else.
