It’s not the traditional cop movie, but I’m not sure I liked the direction it took in the second hour.

OK so I too saw The Little Things. It's one of those "love it -- wait, wut? -- oh man it kinda sux -- wait, OK now I get it!" kind of movies. It's definitely worth watching.
OK so my take is Leto was not the killer, right? That's the whole point of mentioning the earlier false confession that was never raised again. I'm guessing the dude who blew his brains out was the killer. And so when Jimmy kills Sparma Deacon could relate, having killed someone in error himself. And just like Deacon's galpal took care of him, Deacon did what he could to take care of Jimmy. And of course, he went the extra mile by sending the fake hair clip to Jimmy, who now won't spend his whole life thinking he killed an innocent man.

    That's it, innit?

We watched Sound of Metal Friday. My wife really liked it. Perhaps because I was wrapping up a fairly complicated work project with tight deadlines, I wasn’t all that open to a movie that is at times esoteric and unresolved.

Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke were compelling leads. The plot delves into or has brushes with a lot of complex situations: dealing with life-changing discovery, deaf culture, the relationship of addicts with recovery and the people involved, letting go of dreams, etc. There were moments when I thought perhaps the filmmakers took on too much.

Again, some of my dissatisfaction might have been more a product of my mood.

The more I thought about the film the past few days (that I though about it al all is evidence of the weight of the plot), the less I began to focus on my grumbles about it. I think I might have disappointed had I made a trip to a theater, bought a ticket and watched the film in that sort of high-expectation group experience. But, especially for an Amazon Prime “freebie,” the movie was more than worthwhile, which brings me to ask, do other folks judge films differently if they are viewed in the theater setting of bygone days, are paid for individually for home viewing or are part of some other package that does not require a separate purchase?

The Superbowl ad for "Old", M. Night's newest movie looked pretty interesting. Just hope its not as disappointing of an end as "The Village."

The Justin Timberlake film “Palmer” on Apple TV+ was excellent. He played a brooding ex-con well, the kid was a joy to watch and, as someone who went through a custody battle with a substance-abusing ex, the courtroom stuff and her character hit really close to home.

Judas and the Messiah well done.

  12. VERY disappointed in The Little Things. Not terrible, but not good.
Tried to watch I am Woman (starring Mrs. Maisel), couldn’t get through the first 15 minutes because of the baby crying.

Wonder Woman 1984 was gigantic letdown. WW is such a powerful character and they give her a weak story and weak villians. She deserves better.

Waiting on price to come down on Hanks’ News of the West and the Kevin Costner evil in-laws movie.
