The vaccine is on site in many places. People just can't get out of their houses to get it because of the huge storm. Not sure how that logistical problem can be overcome simply by planning. The weather shutting down Texas, Louisiana, etc., is almost unprecedented.

They will be well over 100 million shots, they're already at almost 39 million in 27 days.

I'm sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I am sure than in planning, the likelihood one or more populous regions of the country (coulda been New England, could still be) would be struck by winter storms limiting vaccination programs for a day or days was taken into account.

100 million shots in 100 days was really just an arbitrary benchmark anyway.

The storm will throw the rolling averages off for a few weeks, but that blip will pass. It's also possible the storm will produce a minor dip in infection rates since people will be effectively kept in hard lockdown for a few days.

The bar was set so low by Fatfuck that 10 million shots in 100 days would’ve been viewed as a minor miracle.

Of course: the basic operating premise of Team Fatfuck is that government does not, cannot and should not serve any positive function in society.

Anything good that anyone needs to be done must be performed by the profit seeking market economy. You need a vaccine for COVID? You'll pay through the ass to get it.
You need a letter delivered to New York? Fuck
that 55 cents shit, let Fatboy DeJoy get his chubby fingers on it and the Trump Postal Service will have it there in less than six months for $19.95.

I'm starting to feel awkward sharing my COVID math with people because ... well, I go where the math takes me, and the math is taking me to places that people aren't emotionally ready to accept.

The short version is this: If the trajectory doesn't change very soon, the pandemic is effectively over in the United States in a matter of weeks, not months. "Over" is kind of a vague term, but most states would be at all-pandemic lows in viral metrics in about 6 weeks.

And here's the kicker: Trajectory changes are usually signaled in advance. You could predict the hospital tipping point on Jan. 14 a couple of weeks ahead of time, because the rate of increase in hospitalizations started to slow down. It was still going up, but by a lower and lower percentage each day until eventually that percentage became negative.

I'm not seeing any signs that the slowdown is decelerating. It's actually accelerating. The speed with which the numbers are going down appears to be going up.

So if something like B117 or people's loose behavior is going to reverse the trend, it better start *really* soon, or there won't be much virus left to grow from.

Just signed up for shots one and two! Trying to see if I can get Mrs Highlander-Spartan an appointment too. Mine is going to be late enough in the day that we’ll ask if they had no shows they need an extra arm to inject. There is some grey area around whether I could sign up because I’ll be going to a different county but it seems legit

You are correct that some people seem to want the COVID 19 pandemic to continue indefinitely. I am not certain why. I know it is not your “forte,” either.

@RickStain is crazy smart, my friend.

You would do well to learn from him and his analysis.

If you are wrong, your prediction is worth what we paid for it. But hope is a valuable thing and hope grounded in logic much more so.
