The beard is actually a good idea for Cruz, because his unshaven face looks like congealed soup from the dent can store.

I understand not wanting to sit shivering in the dark for a week, but if he had stayed warm and dry in DC nobody would have thought twice about it. And even though he has no formal role in state governance, you don’t think he could throw his weight around behind the scenes and do a little jawboning to try and get things moving, with a story about his quiet efforts conveniently leaking out in a couple of days?

I understand why red states vote Republican. What I don’t understand is why they elect Republicans who seem to think their only job is to be tone-deaf little shits.

 

Other senators from other states aren't facing one of the biggest weather crises their state has endured.

This storm would not have affected northern states in this manner. Bad storm, but they have the equipment and experience to weather it. Even Arkansas, where the storm also crushed, isn't having the problems Texas has.

Either way, federal legislators have too much time spent not doing their jobs for the salaries they bank. Need to fix that.

When Hurricane Pickaname hit Texas two years ago he was all over The Weather Channel giving updates to whatever bootyologist was on about emergency response. So it’s not like he doesn’t know how this works.

We haven’t even really gotten into the whole “Traveling to a foreign country you use as a whipping boy during a global pandemic” side of the equation either.

 

Seriously? Fuck him and his shithole family. Another Limbaugh wannabe who will gleefully celebrate other people’s misery and even more gleefully inflict harm and pain to others. He doesn’t just hurt people for political points, he gets off on it.

I wouldn’t wish for the plane he’s traveling on to crash, only because innocent people would suffer. But is it too much to ask for a single car accident on his way home?

 

It is not that hard to pretend like you give a s***. He could have stayed in Washington, done some press conferences expressed his dismay over what's happening to his Texan constituents. Easy peasy. Instead he chose the one route that would make him look like the complete, ridiculous ass that he is. It's not that hard to avoid this. But no, Ted had to go to Cancun.
