To be honest, for a 97-year-old severely wounded WW2 vet who I don't think has been able to walk for some time, here's hoping that there isn't much pain and that he can enjoy whatever time he has left. Though I'm not wild about his policies, still a great American.

But the barbecue.

In the midst of this I honestly wonder if he were just some other Senator, like a Roger Wicker or a James Lankford, or even a John Cornyn, if he could have gotten away with this or at least it would have been a local story. But Cruz is such an asshole that folks are ready and waiting to pounce on this. And it's not like they're just being mean, there are stories of Ted Cruz's assholery dating back 30-40 years.

The situation in Texas isn't very funny right now, but I do wish it were possible for Molly Ivins to return from the grave to extemporize on this and several other things Texan.

 

Problem with Texas is that the people that co trol the government and do t want the government can afford to many public things, privately. They can afford private schools, private home security guards, they probably have home propane based generators. It’s easy to say fuck public schools, cops, and utilities when because of cheap land and no taxes you can provide for yourself. I get why they would be like that. Most of the people in Texas who have been hit hard wouldn’t have voted for the One Eyed Congressman, Abbott and Cruztello

 

In my heart, she’ll always be governor of Texas.
