President Biden: The NEW one and only politics thread

Come on. Two tweets is not a thread, man.

 

Theodore Geisel was born in 1904. Speech, attitudes, and depictions that were commonplace long ago are far beyond the pale now. He could be very emphatic, look at some of his anti-Nazi work.

His mindset, reflected in his work, was of his time.


The company in charge of running his estate decided to stop publishing five books. Most of what it was over seems sort of petty... but then I'm not a Black mother reading a book to her child, turning the page, and finding something offensive. If the child is old enough she might have to stop and have The Talk and explain it. Lots of Dr. Seuss books to enjoy. Get over it. More important stuff to worry about.

 

"Bigger Fish to Fry" would have been a good Seussian book.

 

The last two cartoons in the "racist" link posted earlier were drawn a few years later and were anti-racist.

Very well thought out post as usual, Neutral. Hoping it's another instance of folks being cooped up inside too long under lockdown and not having anything constructive to do with their time. Tutor children at the library or at school when they open. Volunteer at the animal shelter. Anything to help the community you live in.

 

More like people looking for something to be butthurt over, but I agree.

Is USA now a failed state? Out of control storms, prolonged service outages, attempted coups, rampant poverty, gun violence, racism, etc. Like the shithole countries the former guy loved.

 

That wouldn’t show up in my search of Aeuss books selling for more than $500.

 

How can the real seniors compete with that!!
