Depends on how much of the scholarship the particular student is getting for golf and tennis. As for baseball, is it one of the full from the 11.7?

Thing is, most of the Olympic/non-revenue sports is where those athletes truly take advantage of the academic opportunity. Much more likely for them to get some more coursework in as opposed to a football or men's basketball player whose eyes were, are and always will be aimed at the next level (whether or not it should be is another issue).

And you're getting just as "triggered" as they are. Really, when's the last time you bought a Dr. Seuss book? A Mr. Potato Head? I reacting to these scattered and very minor cases, you're proving you every bit the snowflake you accuse others of being.
Fuck, man...everyone chill the hell out.

Hardly any non-revenue sports athletes are getting a full ride.

Depends on the sport and gender.

I know some women's sports where they're offering full rides vs. the partial or walk-ons on the men's side because Title IX and such.

I hope the kids take advantage of the athletic scholarships, the women really do. The non revenue kids do. But the coaches and schools do the football and basketball players a real disservice. 1 out of every 6 draft choices in the NBA is not coming from a US college. Only 25 get guaranteed nba contracts. We all know the odds of making a living playing basketball. There are 10,000 scholarship Div1 football players. 2% get drafted, maybe 3% get to a training camp. How many insurance and car salesman can there be in Alabama.

I agree with Chris Hayes for once- the Potato Head idiocy and such has become a heat sink into which all the Republican rage has begun to flow.

an appropriate basin for their low-level thinking on policy to settle. They should put a wall around it.

When the last time we've heard of a non-revenue/Olympic sport athletes - or a women's basketball player - struggling with academics? We never hear about schools trying to shoehorn in that cross country star or the new point guard for the women.

They take advantage of the educational opportunity ... in all fairness, some of the high-profile programs in the moneymaking sports aren't letting many, if any, of the kids in the program take full advantage of the educational end of the deal.

These programs are what the NCAA get correct. This is what can - and almost certainly will - get screwed up if reform comes to football and men's basketball programs at the highest level. They're prime examples of why blanket statements of how broken the NCAA is are untrue at best and dangerous at worst. Yes, the NCAA is badly broken with Power Five football and men's basketball, but it's not quite Charlie Foxtrot from pillar to post.
