Running racism in America thread

Whatever arguments Jeep makes that the product name is intended to reflect positive attributes: strength, dependability, etc etc, imply those attributes were well-known before the product was released.

 

Jeep once set the tribe’s name free when they sold a redesigned Cherokee in the U.S. as the 2002 Jeep Liberty.

 

Hey, it worked for Nike, Trek, and the US Postal Service when they sued Lance Armstrong!

 

Or Jeep ponies up a little bit of money and does something that's seen as a huge PR victory on behalf of the Cherokee, and grows positive brand awareness.

 

It'll be a very healthy chunk of money for Native American health and education programs.

Whatever.

 

So here's a great example to me of why racism is just ingrained, lazy thinking:

Why even bring up the race of the lower performing students? Why not just say, "jeez, what can I do to help MY lower performing students in my class do better?" You don't need to, just act colorblind. Is that too much to ask?

In a blatant display of casual racism, an announcer in Oklahoma directed a racial slur towards high school basketball players taking a knee during the national anthem prior to a playoff game.
