President Biden: The NEW one and only politics thread

Unemployment benefits were designed last year to be extra generous precisely because in that one fleeting moment of concern for public safety we wanted people to stay home and not spread the virus instead of feeling pressured to have to work dangerous dead-end jobs like flipping burgers or cleaning houses or sucking dick in the cloakroom for thinly-disguised closet cases. But then the usual suspects pitched a bitch because Mammon forbid anybody get an extra taste that can’t afford their own lobbyist to beg for it first.

 

Sounds like someone -- Biden but probably Pelosi -- threatened to cut off Manchin's balls.

Seems to be going forward again, for now.

 

Manchin knows he has power, but is genuinely undecided about how to exercise it. Hasn't figured out the simple thing is to figure out what he wants and then tell Schumer what it is. So we'll get these little drama shows as we go on.

 

I expected Schumer to be weak and ineffectual. So far, he hasn't proven me wrong.

 

He's part of a big club, there.

 

Fuck the Republicans too.

She’s tamped it down because she’s trying to get votes from “moderate Republicans,” whatever those are.

 

She really is a chameleon. Former LDS, former Green, former progressive, she's LGBT but I'm not sure which one for sure, except it's not the T. She might be one of these people who went to DC and just breathed a little too deeply. Anyone know who her big donors are?
