AOC doesn’t do Vanity Fair fashions shows and puff interviews as a committed socialist. That’s not to say she doesn’t believe that socialist economics is important for most people including her constituents. She’s smart and calculating and I think she’s sees the forest and the trees. Her deal with Pelosi is that her criticism is limited to individual pieces of legislation and not overall leadership and Pelosi doesn’t isolate AOC.

I saw AOC asked about replacing Pelosi and she said the Dems don’t have anyone who could do it right now
“I know I couldn’t do her job,” she said
Of course one problem is the Dems haven’t groomed anyone to take over from all the octogenarians in leadership

Because the octogenarians don’t want to give up leadership. It’s like the old Italian grandma who takes the sauce recipe to their grave because she doesn’t want anyone knowing the secret ingredient.

Nana’s *secret* was Brook’s catsup from a glass bottle.

My pal's Nana used to mix two store-bought sauces and pass it off as scratch.

Also, the first ones went into my grandkids savings account and I will keep this next one to spend on household items. My sister sent hers to a charity. All good stuff.

One of the reasons Pelosi should go is that she's been in Dem leadership for 20 years and been careful to build a moat around her with Hoyer and Clyburn. Her inability/unwillingness to develop caucus leaders for the next 20 years is by design of course, "there's nobody else who can do it" - but it's left the party ill-prepared for the future. There is something to be said for the GOP purges every 12 years or so.

Uh huh. I'd like to see the percentage of those "70%" who know anything about the bill other than "muh $1,400." And the percentage of the other 30% who are against it because Sean Hannity or Mark Levin told them to be against it. I have no other illusions about such polls.

And hey, as far as I know it may be a great bill. But I didn't read all 628 pages of it. And neither did anyone else here.

“I'm not going to go there until my Republican friends have the ability to have their say also.”

They've already had their say, by introducing voter suppression bills in states all over the country. The voting rights bill is not going to be bipartisan. They are not going to work with the Democrats. Period. So Joe, get that stupid notion out of your silly head once and for all, and be a fucking Democrat.
