These are valid points. Bay doors/windows were open, so it made me feel a little better.

Alice really really wants to eat at a restaurant when we are fully vaccinated. We get the second shot next Friday, and two weeks after that is early April. There won't be much if any outdoor dining in Massachusetts at that time. I am leery of eating indoors, but there are a couple of places we visit that extended their outdoor dining season by covering their patios with plastic tents with see-through windows, of which sections could be opened for ventilation. If it's a nice evening, I might give one of those a go.

Mainly because of our work schedules, almost all our restaurant dining is done mid-afternoon (2-4 p.m.), when places are about as empty as they'll be all day.

I can see continuing wearing a mask far into the future. This was the first winter in years that I haven't had some kind of bronchitis/crud that left me hacking up phlegm for six or eight weeks. This year? Not even a sniffle. My almost-7-year-old has been in school since mid-September. Not a single cold. My wife, with her nearly non-existent immune system, has been teaching in person since late August. First time in her career she will not use a sick day (she has now had both shots). I'll deal with looking silly, although I suspect I won't be alone.

I had no idea @Cosmo was a troll. Always seemed pretty rational to me.

Hopefully widespread “masking” is here to stay.

Just got my first vaccine shot (Pfizer). The staging area was a really large municipal athletic complex. I arrived about 15 minutes early and they began processing my appointment right away. The whole thing took only about 30 minutes, everything moved very briskly.

Had two in-person doctor's appointments this week. One with a new PCP (my previous one left the medical group I'm in and I'd seen him virtually since last spring) and the second a six-month folo with my urologist. Strict masking, temperature checks and social distancing, of course. At the latter, they even gave me a paper mask even though I was wearing a cloth mask!

That's what they do at Mass. General when you check in (my eye doctor is there). They have you use their masks.

Nothing to do with coronavirus, but every time I hear Mass. General, I think of Charles Emerson Winchester III.

364 days after I said goodbye to my class for the last time I am going to get my second shot. I didn't mean for this to line up, but it's fitting that it comes today.
