Same here. But Florida State couldn't stop giving the ball away.

I meant my alma mater, not Oregon State. I'm a big Wayne Tinkle fan, what a great guy.

To his credit, after they were picked to finish 12th in the conference, he said NFW were they taking 12th, that they were much better than that.

At one point the Beavers were a 200-1 shot to win the tournament. Some guy put $100 bucks on them and just won $20,100. Not me, unfortunately.

Walton was totally out of line at the end of the USC-Colorado game on Friday night. It wasn't just his usual bonkers rant.
The game was tied with a few seconds left. The deciding play was a Colorado player shooting a 3 from straightaway. The ball hit the front of the rim and came forward. One of their guys scored with a putback. Walton criticized USC star Evan Mobley for not getting the rebound. They showed a replay and Mobley was up top challenging the guy who took the original shot. The guy had to arc it over Mobley and that's why it came up short. The play-by-play guy pointed it out. Walton said it didn't matter. Mobley should have been there to get the rebound. He was expecting him to run 25 feet in a second after challenging the shot to get the rebound. Walton ruins every game he does.

Tonight with a couple of seconds left and OSU struggling to inbound, he beseeched them to throw deep, because even if they couldn’t get it Colorado couldn’t make up enough ground in time. Never mind if it went out of bounds without a deflection it would have been Buffs ball under their own basket.

I've always thought that was a good strategy, with two or so seconds left. Put two big guys next to each other at the other foul line and throw a pass to them. Someone's gonna touch it 99.9% of the time. Clock expires.

Guy should have missed the second FT after missing the first. Put your guys on the blocks, challenge the rebound, clock will expire.

At least they fouled and didn't give CU a chance at a game-tying 3. I foul every single time in that situation, once the clock gets under 4-5 seconds. Every single time.

Walton's biggest fault is he constantly wants players to do what HE would have done -- in
    his young healthy prime.

Walton in his young healthy prime could contest, or block, 20-foot jumpers and then get back to the rim to rebound. But there was no 3-point shot in those days and 6-10 guys didn't shoot 23-footers.

As someone who watched his act at Ohio from up close, I was bemused how they kept letting Jim Christian coach four years past when they should’ve fired him.

The Ohio players haaaaaaated him with a special intensity.

When Oregon State lost to Portland in an early game - I mentally checked out of the season. They've tended to lose early games that allow you to focus on other things in the winter. But I have to say, really happy for the players and coaches who stuck it out and grinded out the season. I think they have one four-star (Ethan Thompson) on the roster and I don't know if he's gotten a whole lot better over four years. The team is now mostly JUCOs and other transfers after quite a bit of roster upheaval in the past three years. Happy for them, will root for them and enjoy playing with the house money. Go Beavs.

Texas won a Big 12 championship in basketball before they won another one in football

Could be worse. You could be Pitt, who hired a cheater and either won’t let him cheat or were too dumb to go investigate if he was a cheater.
