How has Indiana become the graveyard of coaches? You'd almost think there was some common denominator in their failure...

Many have speculated that Jon Gruden would coach at Tennessee. How did that work out?

And if Stevens went to Bloomington expectations would be that he would have the program back to the levels of the 80's. I don't know if he would want to coach in a place where anything less than a Final Four every three years is unacceptable. Especially in a town as small as Bloomington.

Thank goodness the women's committee got this one correct.

There had been some rumblings that N.C. State would not earn a No. 1 seed, which would have been a crock given that all it did was take out two top-ranked teams on the road in the same season.

Some so-called experts had NCSU as a No. 2 seed, which would have been absolute bullsh_t. Yeah, I'm an alum. Yeah, this was a potential rant. Sue me.

This team has earned it. Doesn't mean they'll win a national title. Doesn't mean they'll even beat North Carolina A&T, the Wolfpack's first-round opponent. But they earned the right to be a top seed.

Rant over. Back to to the men's tournament, etc. ...

See also: UCLA, (to a lesser extent) N.C. State, DePaul (which just fired Dave Leitao).

Chasing ghosts is a tiring, thankless task.

    Karl Hess? Uh ...
    Dick Paparo? Uh ...
Someone will emerge. Some deserve it. Most do not.

(Early money is on Jamie Luckie.)
