Mr. Security Guy putting up more resistance than anyone in green and white has in the last hour.

There was a verbal tete-a-tete between Izzo and a player, but the player is yelling at him first. Of course, now we're going to get a bunch of "Tom Izzo is mean to his players" takes which even as a Michigan bobo I find tiresome.

Clearly the player was having an unsettled moment where he did not think he was going to get the home of his dreams while going up against cash offers in today’s competitive marketplace. Fortunately Izzo was there to coach him up on the power of Rocket Mortgage by Quicken.

It's not so much Izzo being mean to the players as it is Izzo allowing what should have been a 15-second kerfuffle completely disrupt the halftime adjustments or preparations or whatever.

Slightly disagree. UCLA was getting their shit handed to them inside the whole game. It was the hesitency on the offensive end that killed MSU. Jesus, the double-clutching on wide open threes at the end. They couldn't find a way to get a bucket.

Izzo was counting on three things this season
Rocket Watts to replace Cassius Winston as point guard
Joey Hauser to replace Xavier Tillman inside
Josh Langford to come back as good as he was before he got hurt
    None of them happened

Glad to see both HBCUs win last night, and not just because I had money on Texas Southern. Hate it when the committee pits them against each other. Those win shares are huge for those conferences.

When I covered the Big South, a lot of coaches in that league loved being in the play-in games, because a win there goes in the record book as an NCAA tournament win, and your program gets the solo national stage for at least one night.

My impression was that even the losers of the play-in games received credit for a full first-round share. I guess if you win in a normal year you might get a slight bump to cover travel expenses out of Dayton, but otherwise you are playing two for the price of one.

Daytime basketball at Hinkle Fieldhouse. One of the best settings in sports.

Is it just me or is the buzz surrounding this year's tourney...non existent?
