No worries. The response would not have been to you, but to those who think using the phrase is somehow clever.

The phrase was a lot more fun when it was an inside joke. Hollywood went and told everyone, and now that's spoiled.

It's still politer than "My, you surely are a drooling idiot, aren't you?"

 

Like that's worse than A-rab, Alabama.

 

Well ... short of an insult from the Subhuman Pile of Crime himself, almost anything is more polite than that.

 

There's a Houston/Howston in Ohio as well as Rueshi (Russia) and Ver-sales (Versailles).

 

Georgia also has a Schley County. Pronounced “sly.”
