2020-21 College Basketball thread

College basketball is often exciting because of the frequency that the players make simple mistakes.

 

Sure - but I have sat there and enjoyed that sort of "Bless your heart", delivered in the sweetest, politest tone as the dagger slid between their ribs so smoothly that it wasn't even noticed. There is a certain subset of Southern women who are masters of the art.

 

One time while covering a College World Series a fellow reporter was getting pissed off because of how all these "great" plays were being played up, especially outfield catches, because the players sucked at actually tracking a ball and when they made up for it made awesome looking plays. He wasn't wrong.

 

Georgia has 159 counties, you know there will be some oddballs. My daddy said that there were that many because damn near every town with a good crossroads or a railroad station went down to the lege and got themselves named a county seat back in the day.

 

The other side of that is how many misses would you or I make out of ten free throws or layups? There are lots of things that just aren't as easy as they look. Throw in the number of times there are more that one person involved, whether you throw it to the wrong spot or the other guy does not go where he was supposed to.

 

Yeah, that was kinda the point. Alaska has 29.

Then again, Texas has 254, so...
