FWIW, I think I know @Songbird -- dude, New Englander, wry sense of humor, sometimes gets high (or doesn't, sorry if I've confused you with the other dude from New England).
And I, too, read your first post, gave pause, then thought, OK, cool, he's a dude from New England who's also Jewish and Korean.
    Glad I wasn't the only one ;)

I'm thoroughly confused. Is he or isn't he Korean and Jewish?

I do not have ovaries, but am the daughter my mom never had, and love matzo balls and the Hatikvah. And had a moment with a North Korean chick in Soho London. Rebecca is not my daughter.

I once dated a girl who was both Korean and Jewish, but it wasn't Rebecca Kuss or Songbird. :)

Her father was Jewish and her mother was Korean. I have no idea if the mother converted, but I remember the girl and her sister were both more observant Jews than I was.

I'm not a part of this discussion, but randomly clicking on this thread and then clicking back a couple of pages for context, it read to me (without clicking the link) as though Songbird was self outing as Kuss. I thought "Songbird is a woman?", surprised.

Not taking any side in the discussion, just stating how it read to me, cold. I know who a few people on the board are, but I never moved in circles where I would have come in contact outside of the board, so I did not have that to lean on.

Several of my journalism professors stressed that attribution, especially lengthy first-person statements, should be clearly stated early in the passage.

I have to admit that my own biases toward Western language also caused me to be a bit confused be songbird’s post. The left-to-right, top-to-bottom reading pattern is pretty entrenched in my brain.

I know that there are languages which are read right-to-left, so perhaps somewhere language might be read bottom to top.

In the future, I will try, but probably fail, to keep my predetermined notions about reading patterns from influencing my interpretation of what is written.

Scoot over on that bench. Those of us who aren't at "the other place" or privy to very much back-channel talk were/are confused. Honestly, I reach my USDA RDA of outrage by six am most days, so I'm not going to think about this too much.

Hasn't Songbird posted a pic getting a haircut? Wasn't a clear shot of the face, but was pretty positive he's a man.

Nothing against them but probably not. Not my style.
