2020-21 College Basketball thread

Just watched the ending highlight. #24 for Iowa State turns the ball over and literally jogs back as the A&M woman is driving for the winning bucket. It would have been nice for #24 to have at least a little sense of urgency.

 

For those interested ... two of the best women's players match up tomorrow in a Sweet 16 game between Iowa and UConn. It's on ABC at 10 a.m. PDT.

Paige Bueckers (UConn) and Caitlin Clark (Iowa) are great players. Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, UConn has the usual supporting cast around Bueckers. Clark will need several teammates to play the game of their lives.

Shaka Smart headed to Marquette.

 

It will be much easier for Geno Auriemma, Chris Dailey and Co. to scheme to slow down Clark than the other way around for Bueckers.

But, in all fairness, it's not like the Big Ten just let Clark do whatever she wanted. IMO, UConn is not as unbeatable as it was during the Breanna Stewart era.

 

If I were an Illinois fan, I’d want to punch out my TV watching this dog of a game.

Kim Mulkey looks like a weekend talk show host with very detailed opinions about open vs. concealed carry.

 

Really surprised she didn't say more about the weight room inequalities and such when the tournaments started. Heard from Geno - no surprise, especially given that he was quarantining back in Connecticut - and we heard from Dawn Staley, who I knew would skewer the NCAA for that crap.

Kim Mulkey usually doesn't hold back, either. Yet I don't recall her saying anything. She blasted the NCAA for the naked money grab during the pandemic, and she's not exactly shy.

 

I hope the women's game I will be watching in about 90 minutes is better than this.

 

Maybe these Beavers really are worth a dam.

 

And yeah ... Mngwa was correct. Michigan-Baylor women is a better game. Bonus with Beth Mowins-Debbie Antonelli on the call.
