Does this mean Jimmy G is headed back to NE?

That's a lot of draft capital to depend on the Jets not to draft "your guy." My guess would be it's the BYU kid.

They know who the Jets want and really want the next guy.

From a Jets perspective, this confirms that there is no room at the Inn for Savior Sam.

Well, the Niners need some '22-'23 draft picks now and the Pats have some. But I'm not sure the two sides could agree on price.
PS: Reports from New York indicate Jets want Wilson from BYU as their pick. This leaves 49ers with Fields, Lance, or Jones of the consensus top five QBs. Nothing against any of those guys, but that's a high price tag for any of 'em.

Price can't be that high. Mediocre, injury-prone quarterback with a ridiculous contract who now appears headed for back-up status? What's the difference between him and Goff, who essentially was a throw-in?

If the Niners want Lance, which Gil Brandt believes and God knows he's got more cred than yours truly, then Garoppolo would still be the 2021 starter. Lance played all of one game in 2020. No way he's ready to play by September. He'll have a perfect chance to come in without expectations when Garoppolo suffers his annual season-ending injury by Halloween at the latest.

Looks like John Lynch got taken to the cleaners. And that Brian Flores paid a lot of attention during his time in Foxboro.

... and, given the stupendous number of deals, potential deals and hand-wringing, this group of quarterbacks had better make the Class of 1983 look like a bunch of bums.
