If they give up that much for a QB he damn well better be a franchise QB. If he plays like Garoppolo they're screwed.

In theory - yes. But I also think teams are starting to value cost certainty as much as productivity. The big time players will get theirs, but the rank and file guys might be edged out. I think most teams would spend an extra $2m a year if that's what it took to get a shut-down corner or dominant edge rusher - even if it means having to replace a reliable but unspectacular veteran with a rookie.

  4. If they draft Fields, Lynch is the dumbest Mother Fucker in the NFL and deserves to be fired.

    Fields is TERRIBLE.

Anyone who drafts Fields or Jones (1st round, muchless trades up and/or surrenders future picks) should be canned.

    As bad as Mahomes?

Huh? At least one will get in. Roethlisberger's numbers make him borderline and the rings get him in. Manning probably shouldn't get in, but those two Super Bowl runs will get him there. I'm not sure that helps Rivers.

Agreed. Fields is Sam Darnold 2.0. If he played for THE University of Miami, Ohio we wouldn’t be hearing a word about him.

I just don't see Fields working in that Shanahan system. Lance maybe. Not Shields.

Why? Fields may not pan out but why would he not fit Shanghai’s system, every other QB has.

Man, teams must be really dumb then. I wonder if they have realized all the talent he had around him.

Ben’s clearly a first ballot HOFer.

49ers better not do this for Jones. When was the last really good QB drafted anywhere who wasn’t able to at least extend a play with his legs? Especially for this move, can’t do it. Has to be a gifted QB. Smells like Lance to me. Probably because I want the high reward, not the safe “Power 5” guy who’s had talent all around him.
